Pembroke Pines Injury Attorney on the Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets Recall

Just yesterday, Johnson & Johnson announced a recall of Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets. In total, 60,912 bottles were recalled. The recall was announced after the company received reports of an "offensive odor". As readers of this blog will remember, Johnson & Johnson recalled Topamax in April because of a similar odor issue. As a Pembroke Pines Products Liability Injury Lawyer, I felt that it was important to bring this recall to my readers' attention since so many of us take Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets with regularity. Obviously this musty odor is not what we expect from our medication and it clearly falls short of the expectations that we have from Johnson & Johnson to deliver a quality product.

According to the Johnson & Johnson Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets Recall Announcement, no injuries have been associated with this latest product recall. This is great news and hopefully all of the pills can be recalled without anyone suffering harm. The odor that consumers are noting is a chemical known as 2,4,6-tribromoanisole, or TBA for short. This chemical is actually a by-product of a chemical used to treat shipping pallets. As a Pembroke Pines Injury Attorney, I think that it is worth nothing that Johnson & Johnson has been having numerous recalls linked to TBA and unexpected odors. Clearly this is an issue for the company that they need to resolve immediately.

For those who would like to check if their bottle of Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets is one of those recalled, be sure to visit the Tylenol Recall Announcement link above. By visiting that website you will be able to compare your lot number with the lot number that was recalled. As a Pembroke Pines Injury Lawyer, and as a consumer, I truly hope that Johnson & Johnson can resolve this TBA issue once and for all, because there just simply have been too many recalls linked to this issue already.

Fort Lauerdale Accident Lawyer Discusses the Boca Raton Toyota Keyless Ignition Lawsuit

Earlier this month, the family of a woman from Boca Raton filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Toyota. The woman died from carbon monoxide poisoning and the lawsuit alleges that the wrongful death stems from problems with Toyota's keyless ignition. The lawsuit claims that after the woman's Lexus failed to shut off in the garage, carbon monoxide gas entered her townhome through the ventilation system, allegedly leading to her death and to her boyfriend suffering serious injuries. As a Fort Lauderdale Wrongful Death Lawyer, I feel that it is important to note that the plaintiffs are also suing the woman's apartment complex over the aforementioned ventilation system.

The lawsuit is alleging that the car should have some monitor to detect when someone has failed to shut off the car via the keyless ignition. As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Attorney, I am very curious to see how this case will be resolved. If Toyota is found liable, this could be one of the first of many lawsuits related to keyless ignition systems. It will also be interesting to see if car companies respond with a monitoring system that would shut off keyless ignition vehicles that are left running for an extended period of time.

I know that another lawsuit of this nature was filed in November 2010. The woman in that lawsuit is also suing Toyota after suffering brain damage. As a Fort Lauderdale Accident Lawyer, it will be interesting to see how the two courts in two different states rule in these two cases. As I mentioned, these two cases could set the precedent for many cases to come as more and more cars transition to a keyless ignition system.

Plantation Injury Lawyer on the Endocet Recall

Last week, Endo Pharmaceuticals and the FDA announced the recall of two lots of Endocet. Endocet is a painkiller and the recall was announced after discovering that certain bottles might contain a higher dosage of acetaminophen than what the product is indicated to contain. As stated, the recall affects two lots of 100 count bottles of the painkiller. As a Plantation Products Liability Injury Attorney, I am happy to report that there haven't been any injuries associated with this recall. That is very fortunate news because this incident could have caused some serious consequences.

According to the FDA Endocet Recall Release, the tablets that contain the higher dosage of acetaminophen could cause liver toxicity or even liver damage for certain people based on their alcoholic consumption or other medications that they take. As a Plantation Accident Lawyer, I can say that Endo Pharmaceuticals is very fortunate that no one suffered injury as a direct result of the defective drugs. As mentioned, the symptoms that one could suffer are quite severe and any injuries could pose a significant legal problem for the company.

Fortunately, the total number of bottles being recalled isn't tremendously large, otherwise the likelihood of someone becoming ill would dramatically increase. Hopefully everyone who takes this medication becomes aware of the recall and those who have the defective tablets find out about the mistake prior to consumption. As a Plantation Injury Lawyer, I just wanted to do my part to alert those who might take this medication about this recent Endocet recall.

Fort Lauderdale Accident Lawyer on the Big Lots Bunk Beds Recall

On June 16, Big Lots announced the recall of its metal futon bunk beds. The recall stems from the death of a 3 year-old from Iowa, which was caused by the defective bunk beds. In total, approximately 30,000 Big Lots metal futon bunk beds are being recalled. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Attorney, and as a parent, it goes without saying just how horrific this incident is. It is always devastating when a defective product causes serious harm, but the damage is even more heatbreaking in a case like this where the product is believed to have caused the death of a little boy.

According to the CPSC Big Lots Bunk Beds Recall Release, the products pose an injury risk because "Children behind the futon or in the ladder area of the bunk bed can get entrapped when the futon and its metal frame are lowered from the seated to the flat position." Unfortunately, this is how the aforementioned little boy died. As a Fort Lauderdale Accident Lawyer, I can say that a recall such as this one is one of the most frightening, since it involves young children being exposed to a serious injury risk. Anytime children are at risk for injury, the issue immediately becomes much more worrisome.

The recalled units were sold at Big Lots from January 2009 until April 2010, which is why the total number of units being recalled is so large. As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer, I know that alerting 30,000 parents about this safety issue is going to be a difficult task. One can only hope that the word spreads quickly and that any other potential accidents related to this issue can be prevented by the recall.

Fort Lauderdale Personal Injury Lawyer Discusses the Rugby Children's Pain and Fever Drops Recall

Just yesterday, it was announced that approximately 900,000 bottles of Rugby Children's Pain and Fever Concentrated Drops were recalled. This is a nationwide recall for the defective units sold across the country since 2009. The recall was initiated because of inadequate child-resistant packaging. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Lawyer, I am pleased to report that there haven't been any injuries associated with the non-child-resistant units.

According to the CPSC Rugby Children's Pain and Fever Concentrated Drops Recall Release, the product is sold as a bottle and dropper package with a screw-on cap. The issue is with the dropper since it is not child-resistant and it can be used instead of the cap. As a Fort Lauderdale Personal Injury Lawyer, I can say that this presents an issue because if the dropper is used as the cap, a child could unscrew it. Obviously this presents a significant risk of injury for children, which is why this recall is necessary.

The recalled product contains acetaminophen and in accordance with the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, all products that contain acetaminophen must have child-resistant packaging. Thus, since the dropper is not child-resistant, the 900,000 bottles had to be recalled. Hopefully parents can keep these products out of their child's reach and hopefully this recall can be completed injury-free.

Weston Injury Lawyer Discusses the Target Circo Child Booster Seat Recall

It was just announced yesterday that Target is recalling Circo Child Booster Seats. The company is recalling approximately 375,000 booster seats and it is worth noting that 43,000 units of this same product were recalled in August 2009. As a Weston Products Liability Injury Lawyer, I felt that this recall needed to be discussed because of the potential for children to suffer injuries. The product is being recalled because the restraint buckle can unexpectedly open, which could lead to a child falling from the chair.

According to the CPSC Target Circo Child Booster Seat Recall Release, there have been ten additional reports of the buckles unexpectedly opening since the August 2009 recall. This includes three reports of children suffering bumps and/or bruises as a result of falling from the booster seat. As a Weston Injury Attorney, these reports of children suffering injuries are what caught my attention and prompted me to write about this very serious recall. Moreover, the sheer size of this recall, 375,000 units, is noteworthy as well.

As a Weston Products Liability Injury Attorney, and more importantly, as a parent, I can say that we trust that any product designed for children will function properly and safely. When something like this happens where the products we trust actually cause our children harm, there is a serious safety issue. A product recall is the only way to remove these defective products from the marketplace and attempt to prevent any other child injuries.

Fort Lauderdale Injury Attorney on the Defective Chinese Drywall Preliminary Settlement

After a long process, a preliminary settlement has been reached between Banner Supply Company and Florida homeowners. Banner Supply Company is one of the companies that sold defective Chinese drywall. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Attorney, and as a South Florida resident, I know how this defective drywall incident affected thousands of people. I am very pleased to see this first step towards correcting the damage that was inflicted upon many innocent South Florida homeowners.

It is important to remember that thousands more people are still affected by the defective Chinese drywall. This proposed settlement would only aide those who received drywall supplied by Banner. There are many more people across South Florida, Florida, and the country who still need settlement money to help them repair their homes. As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer, I feel that it is in everyone's best interest to resolve these claims as quickly as possible. Homeowners need to be compensated for the damages that they suffered and the businesses that supplied or distributed the defective Chinese drywall would probably like to move forward from this ordeal as well.

Having seen the problems that these defective products caused within our South Florida community, I truly sympathize with any of the victims of this matter. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Lawyer, I know that there is still a long road ahead, even for those who might benefit from this preliminary settlement. Hopefully this is just one of many settlements from the various companies who are liable for these defective products.

Fort Lauderdale Personal Injury Attorney on the GE, Sharp Air Conditioner Recall

Earlier today, General Electric and Sharp announced the recall of GE Zoneline Air Conditioners and Heaters. In total, approximately 90,000 units are being recalled. The units pose a fire hazard because of an electrical issue that can cause the heating system to fail. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Attorney, I felt that this was an important recall to discuss because fire hazards always have the great potential to cause serious harm and injury.

According to the CPSC General Electric, Sharp Air Conditioning Recall Release, there have already been four incident reports. These incidents involved smoke and fire, including two product failures that resulted in property damage. Luckily, no injuries have been reported. As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer, I think that it is very important to spread the word about this recall in order to do as much as possible to help prevent any subsequent incidents.

Unfortunately, the large quantity of units being recalled is worrisome because a large amount of people are potentially at risk for injury. As a Fort Lauderdale Personal Injury Attorney, I know that these high volume recalls can be difficult to conduct because there are so many people that need to become aware of the problem. Hopefully General Electric and Sharp can reach out to all of the consumers via one medium or another and get this issue resolved quickly.

Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer Discusses the EKSuccess Brands American Girl Crafts Jewelry Kit Recall

Earlier this week, EKSuccess Brands announced the recall of American Girl Crafts Jewelry Kits. The product is being recalled because it violates the Consumer Product Safety Commission lead paint standard. This prompted the recall of nearly 75,000 units. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Attorney, I can say that this recall is necessary because it violates a legal standard that is designed to protect children from harmful products. Although it will cost the company a significant amount of money, the CPSC enacted these limits in order to protect children and that is what this recall is ensuring.

According to the CPSC EKSuccess Brands American Girl Crafts Jewelry Kit Recall Release, the product was recalled because "the surface coating on some of the beads contains excessive levels of lead." As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer, this is important information because this surface coating is what is most exposed to the children, thereby presenting the biggest danger. If a child were to put the bead in their mouth, as many commonly do, they could become quite ill because of the excessive amounts of lead.

Most children's products companies have significant safety testing programs already, but it is never good when something like this slips through the cracks and reaches the marketplace. EKSuccess Brands will need to work extra hard to ensure that no other defective products reach consumers because as a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Lawyer, and as a parent, I know that parents will not risk their children's health if they know a company has a bad reputation. However, hopefully this is just an anomaly and the company can make improvements going forward.

Fort Lauderdale Injury Attorney on the Bratz Makeup Design Sketch Book Recall

Earlier today, MGA Entertainment announced the recall of Bratz Makeup Design Sketch Books. The products were recalled because they pose a risk for a staph infection to consumers. In total, the recall affects 6,200 Bratz Makeup Design Sketch Books. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Lawyer, this recall, much like any recall that concerns children's products, has the potential to be quite alarming. We never want to expose our children to any dangerous substances or chemicals, which is why the FDA works to ensure that unsafe products are removed from the shelves.

According to the FDA MGA Entertainment Bratz Recall Release, the recall affects products manufactured from November 5, 2010 to February 25, 2011. As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer, I am pleased to say that there haven't been any reports of infections caused by the recalled Bratz products. It would be a great victory if this recall can be completed without any children suffering injuries or illnesses.

As reported in the FDA Release, there were elevated levels of bacteria found in the eye shadow of the recalled Bratz Makeup Design Sketch Books. It is not known how this contamination occurred or whether it stems from a third party supplier. Hopefully this recall will prompt an investigation into that matter and lead to improved safety procedures for the company.

Weston Car Accident Lawyer Discusses the Toyota Prius Recall

Yesterday, Toyota announced yet another recall; this time the company is recalling certain Toyota Prius vehicles. Toyota is recalling the vehicles because of problems with the electronic power steering. About 52,000 cars will be recalled in the United States and over 100,000 worldwide. As a Weston Car Accident Lawyer it is good to see Toyota being proactive with its newest product defects. Luckily, as of now it seems that there has been only one minor accident because of the power steering problem, but it has not been confirmed yet.

The recall affects Toyota Prius models from 2001 through 2003. As a Weston Personal Injury Attorney, I can only hope that the news of this recall reaches vehicle owners before they experience any serious malfunctioning. As we all know, a vehicle is an extremely dangerous instrumentality, and much more so when it is not functioning as originally intended.

On a related topic, it has been widely reported that Toyota will face several car accident lawsuits and personal injury lawsuits going forward. These lawsuits stem from the other major Toyota recalls, such as the sudden acceleration issues. As I mentioned, as a Weston Car Accident Attorney it is reassuring that this recall seems to be much less catastrophic than the previous Toyota recalls. It will be very fortunate if all of the affected vehicles from this recall can be repaired without any further incidents.

Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer on the Pool Drain Recall Announced by the CPSC

Recently, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of about 1 million pool drain covers. The recall became necessary because of the risks of entrapment from the drain covers. According to the CPSC, the recalled pool drains do not meet the new safety standards that were previously set by the CPSC. Moreover, all public pools must replace these defective pool drain covers with ones that meet the new standards. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Attorney, I am glad to see this recall taking place because it should save many lives. There have been numerous incidents where children were sucked down by the drain and the pressure grabbing them is enough to keep a child under water until he or she dies. Obviously this is a horrifying scenario.

According to the CPSC Pool and Spa Drain Recall Release, the recall was initiated because incorrect ratings of the drains could pose an entrapment hazard for people in the pool, especially children. As a Fort Lauderdale Personal Injury Attorney, I think the timing of this is important as well, since children are just finishing up the school year and are getting reading to spend a lot of their summer time in the pool. A recall such as this one that protects children is incredibly important because the potential consequences are just too dire.

The pool drain recall stems from an investigation that was announced by the CPSC on March 18. It is good to see the CPSC take action on this issue which could very well save many lives. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Lawyer, I can only hope that this improves the testing that these pool drains must undergo in order to be certified as safe for public use.

Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer on the Kashi Frozen Pizza Recall

As announced yesterday, Kashi is recalling some of its frozen pizzas. In total, Kashi is recalling around 11,000 cases of frozen pizzas because the pizzas might contain small pieces of plastic. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Lawyer, I can say that this presents an issue because it breaches the expectation that we are getting food that is safe for consumption when we purchase it. For those who purchase Kashi frozen pizzas, the pizzas that are affected by the recall are Mediterranean Thin Crust Pizza, Roasted Vegetable Thin Crust Pizza, and Mushroom Trio and Spinach Thin Crust Pizza.

Fortunately, according to the FDA Kashi Frozen Pizza Recall Release there haven't been any reports of injuries as a result of the potential pieces of plastic in the pizzas. As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer, I can say that typically with product liability issues, it is important to demonstrate how or why this product defect happened. We don't know as of yet who is responsible for the plastic contamination or why it wasn't found in random safety testing, but as long as no one suffers any injuries from this issue, Kashi should be able to avoid any product liability or personal injury claims.

As readers of this blog may remember, I wrote about a similar product recall about three months ago. In that instance, Lean Cuisine recalled its spaghetti and meatballs frozen dinners after consumers notified the company of the plastic pieces. For those who are interested, my blog post on the Lean Cuisine Recall can be found here.

As I've mentioned many times before, any time a recall can be completed without anyone suffering injuries it is a great victory. As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Attorney I've unfortunately seen the other side of the coin where many people suffer injuries and illnesses as a result of a product defect. Hopefully the news of this recall continues to spread and that anyone who purchased the recalled frozen pizzas can successfully avoid injury.

Weston Personal Injury Attorney Discusses the SimplyThick Recall

Just a few days ago, Simply Thick, LLC announced the recall of some of its thickening products. This recall was initiated because according to the FDA, one of the plants where SimplyThick is manufactured, "failed to file with the FDA a scheduled process designed to ensure that vegetative cells (harmful bacteria) of possible public health significance are destroyed during the manufacturing process." As a Weston Products Liability Injury Attorney, I wanted to discuss the recall of SimplyThick since I wrote about the FDA Warning a couple of weeks ago. The link to my post on the SimplyThick FDA Warning can be found here.

The recall only affects SimplyThick products that were manufactured at the Stone Mountain, Georgia plant owned by Thermo Pac, LLC. It seems likely that the FDA discovered this bacteria issue while conducting research with regards to the SimplyThick Warning. As a Weston Personal Injury Lawyer it will be interesting to see where this goes from here since this is the second issue with SimplyThick in just a few weeks. Certainly all of this negative news cannot be good for the company from a marketing and public relations standpoint.

For instructions on identifying the SimplyThick products made in Stone Mountain that are affected by the recall, you can check the FDA SimplyThick Recall Release here. It is not known at this time how many units are affected by this recall. From a Weston Injury Lawyer's perspective, hopefully the issues with SimplyThick can be resolved and no more potentially dangerous products get into the hands of consumers. I'll follow this recall for updates to see how things progress.

Fort Lauderdale Injury Attorney on the Bravo! Pig Ears Dog Chews Recall

It was announced last week that Bravo! is recalling some boxes of its Pig Ears Chews. The company decided to announce the voluntary recall because of a potential for Salmonella contamination. Bravo! said that the recall affects the 50-count bulk oven-roasted Pig Ears that were sold on the East and West coasts in the beginning of this year. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Lawyer and as a dog owner, I know the importance of preventing our pets from suffering an illness, which is why I wanted to discuss this recall. The total number of units being recalled is not known at this time.

According to the FDA Bravo! Pig Ears Dog Chews Recall Release the bacteria was discovered during a routine sampling. This recall can be scary for anyone who fed their pet this product, because as anyone who owns a pet knows, we become very attached to our pets and we take their health very seriously. As a Fort Lauderdale Injury Lawyer I felt that it was necessary to talk about this recall because Salmonella can not only harm animals, but also humans. According to the recall, humans are at risk just from handling the contaminated pet products.

Luckily, Bravo! says that it has not received any reports of illness in people or animals, which is great news. It will be very fortunate if this recall can be completed without any pets or people becoming ill because Bravo! said that pets who become infected with Salmonella could experience symptoms such as decreased appetite, decreased energy, bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Obviously for us pet owners this would be heartbreaking to witness, so it would truly be great if all illnesses are avoided. As a Fort Lauderdale Products Liability Injury Attorney I hope that Bravo! is right that this is a one time incident and that there are no other imminent pet food recalls from this company. For anyone who purchased this product, you can check the FDA Bravo! Pig Ears Dog Chews Recall Release link above to check your lot code and product code with those that were recalled.

Weston Injury Attorney Discusses the Bell Sports Bicycle Helmet Recall

It was just announced yesterday that Bell Sports is recalling several thousand bicycle helmets. The company announced the recall in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission after discovering that the chin strap of the helmets may fail, causing the helmet to come off during a bicycle crash. As a Weston Products Liability Injury Attorney, I thought it was important to discuss this recall since so many children in Weston ride their bikes around our communities. In total, approximately 33,600 Bell Sports bicycle helmets are being recalled.

According to the CPSC Bell Sports Bicycle Helmet Recall Release, there has been one report of the chin strap buckle failing. That person needed to get stitches below their eye as a result of the defective chin strap. Luckily, there haven't been any other injury reports as of yet. As a Weston Injury Lawyer, I find this recall quite alarming because of the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle. We know that the helmet won't protect us from everything, but we wear helmets with the expectation that they will at least remain on our heads in the event of a crash. This poses a major safety risk for anyone wearing this helmet and expecting it to function in the event of a fall or an accident.

For anyone who thinks they might have purchased this product, be sure to check with the CPSC Bell Sports Helmet Recall Release above in order to double check as to whether your helmet is affected. You can match the model number of your helmet with those of the recalled helmets on that page. From a Weston Injury Attorney's perspective, hopefully this recall prompts Bell Sports and other helmet makers to ensure that their products are functioning at the standards that we expect them to. Bicycle helmets prevent countless head injuries every year, which is why wearing one that functions properly is so important.
